They are the worst. Coverage is non existent.Original dentures were in 2003.
2007 I paid for out of pocket, upper dentures. They ended up being not so good, and have cracked. decided to go to another doctor . So now that 5 years has passed since MetLife covered any I am getting a new set, submitted a claim, they will not cover because I had a set made in 2007. Even though I paid for those out of my own pocket.. |

Good for routine cleanings, that's about it. Otherwise there's so many exclusions, even with their preferred providers, you still pay more than 60% of the bill for things like fillings. And that's at the "high" option where you're paying 40/mo for the coverage. Huge ripoff.. |

Great costs, you find out why it is cheap when you try to get a claim paid. Had 2 dentists say the work is required and Metlife keeps saying there internal dentists don't believe it needs to be done so they won't pay for the work not even the 50%. No way to appeal or anything. Very disappointing.. |

Metlife Dental? By far the worst dental plan I've ever had. My employers used to be with Delta and Blue Cross, and they forced this junk on us at the start of 2008.
Coverage is fine...when they decide to pay. And very few dentists even participate in the MetLife PPO program. My dentist won't even take it. I never had that problem with other insurance. That's how bad MetLife dental is.
And they make you jump through a bazillion hoops to get something paid, using every loophole and excuse in the book, hoping you'll just go away because it's not worth the pain to be reimbursed for a $100 procedure. Please, please, PLEASE, HR departments everywhere -- do NOT foist this junk on your employees! They will thank you for it -- or at least not curse you for making the wrong decision.. |

Coverage sucks! Claim filing is a nightmare! You usually have to file the same claim MULTIPLE times because they "didn't receive it" and when they do, it's usually denied a couple of times for one reason or anohter before they agree to process it. I honestly believe their business model promotes protracted claim handling in hopes that the consumer will just 'give up'. This isn't covered, that isn't covered and when it is, it's at a rate that is at least 20% below market. Most dentist, oral surgeons and orthodontist cringe when you present a Metlife dental card. The dental coverage is a TOTAL SHAM, in my opinion.. |
